Rules about medical certificate or « Health Prevention Pathway » certificate

As part of the French “Sport” law of 2 March 2022 aimed at democratising the practice of sport in France, the French Athletics Federation (FAF) has set up its Health Prevention Pathway (HPP), a system that replaces the traditional medical certificate of fitness for practice for all adults. In accordance with FAF circular no. 3 of 16 January 2024, in the absence of a valid medical certificate, runners will have to log on to https://pps.athle.fr/ from 29 June 2024 to obtain a “Health Prevention Pathway” certificate valid for three months only.
In the absence of a HPP certificate, the medical certificate will still be accepted for the Paris-Versailles 2024.

According to the French law related to sportsmen health protection and struggle against dopping, a medical certificate or a copy should be given with registration for competitors without an Athletics Federation licence or from any Federation related to Athletics. Only medical certificates issued by a doctor, dated less than 1 year on the date of the race, will be accepted. They must mention one of the following clauses :

  • reveals no contraindications for participating in a sporting competition
  • reveals no contraindications for participating in running competitions
  • reveals no contraindications for participating in athletics competitions
